"It's A Girl!" - The Frank Baby Shower

This past weekend I was given the honor of being a part of a very important baby shower. I say important because the mom-to-be was friend/mentor of mine since high school. When I first started blogging last year I kicked off my first post with a tribute to her because she inadvertently helped me "plant seeds" for this idea I had of becoming a floral designer for weddings and events. I've learned and designed a lot since that first post and was completely honored when I was asked by her sister to provide decor for this owl themed teal and fuchsia colored baby shower. The baby shower took place at Smith Commons in Washington DC on the second floor. I absolutely loved the character of this building. All the exposed brick, dark wood, and vintage furniture was the perfect tone for this extraordinary baby shower. Enjoy the photos.

Teal and Pink wall decal that I created will hang on the wall in the baby's room when she's born.

I really did love the chalk board welcome sign

Everyone loved these cute turquoise and fuchsia bud vases

Loved these miniature ceramic owls

Toya's beautiful sister utilizing baby onsies instead of a sign in book. How creative was that!

This Mother's Day

This past Mother's Day was the epitome of everything I am and strive to be as wife, mother, and business owner. I started my Sunday off in prayer and worship at church and then headed to the store for the final  touches to an afternoon brunch with my mother. Then came the finger laceration and the trip to the emergency room with my son right by my side ensuring me that everything would be fine. Finally home, I ended the day having quality time with my husband watching our favorite show. I didn't realize it then, but I'm truly grateful to be a wife, mother, and daughter. Even more, I'm more blessed to fit my floral business around the roles that are most important in my life. This Mother's Day, around church, brunch and the visit to the ER, I got to design this bouquet for a classic Sunday wedding in Annapolis that was so beautifully captured by Maureen Flynn Photography. And then and there, I finally realized that I am well on my way. What a wonderful and exciting place to be in my career! Enjoy these blush and white peonies below.

Red, Silver and Black Wedding

I just wanted to show some pics of a gorgeous red, silver and black wedding that took place a couple of weeks ago at Celebrations at the Bay which is a very gorgeous, scenic venue on the Chesapeake Bay. When my team and myself arrived to set up the reception for this venue we were literally breathless!!! Anyways, enjoy the pics of the reception decor.

2014 Wedding Season Begins

Now that we have started to feel the promises of spring in our first 50 and 60 degree weather days,(what a relief by the way) I'm starting to feel that good old feeling of "Wedding Season" peeking around the corner. With my first wedding less than a month away, my days are already filled to the brim. They consist of meeting consultations with brides to be, creating bouquet recipes, drawing up proposals and contracts, and planning photo shoots with some very talented vendors.  I have so many goals and opportunities for the coming year that are already leaving me speechless, excited and grateful. One of these is the launch of my new website design. Check it out here. Well, until next time I leave you with pics from one of my trips to the wholesaler. I'm back at it and ready for all that's in store.

Happy New Year! - Save the Dates

Happy New Year!!! Now that the holiday season is over, it's countdown to wedding season. Yay! Though we still have a couple of months to go, it's time for summer brides to start sending out "Save the Dates". No, save the dates aren't mandatory but they are a great way to remind your intended guests of your upcoming wedding day. I love it when I receive a "Save the Date" because not only are they keepsakes from the bride and groom but they come in so many shapes and forms. My high school teacher married two years ago and she sent our postcards from her engagement session as her "Save the Dates". Then, cousins on my husband's side of the family got married and they sent their engagement session on a magnet which still sits on our fridge to this day. Here are 20 great "Save the Date" ideas.

A great postcard idea

Happy Holidays!!!

I know I'm super late but I wanted to share my holiday arrangement before 2014 arrives. Believe it or not, a dozen of these arrangements were specifically created for a baby shower, yes I said baby shower.  Not your average color palette of blue and pink but  seasonal hues of gold, burgundy, white, and green. I found this really gorgeous burgundy and gold  naked seeded eucalyptus and knew that it would add the seasonal touch that I was looking for. This arrangement was especially fun creating because I got to design with colors that I might not normally combine. I get to challenge myself and improve my eye for color and design. Enjoy!!!

Lately...A Revelation

Lately my schedule has been filled with two types of days. The extremely busy day, and the extremely empty day. I honestly don't know how it happens but as a result, my multitasking skills have tremendously improved. I can't always predict when business will come, but I can be ready once it arrives. Like the day I had a big wedding and a potential client who wanted to meet with me on that same morning for a consultation. My body was screaming "NO!" but that little voice in the back of my head said "YOU CAN HANDLE IT" and that I did. Or most recently, when I was requested to design some pieces for a dinner party and set up for a wedding on the same day. Somehow, (Lord willing only) I made it work. Here's a sneak peek of some work from that day.
